HW 11 - Final Food Project 1

What i did was an experimental design on how i myself eat. I Started on Friday and ended it today at 3pm. What i did was three things which were: eat no greasy food, eat only one meal in one day and drink only water, eat an apple when hungry. By all means this wasn't easy for me at all since i ended up hungry later through out the day. And declined my mother's cooking which made her feel bad.

Not eating greasy food for a whole day and eating only healthy was sort of easy in a way since i hardly eat any greasy food, but also it was kind of hard also. I only ate a whole wheat sandwhich with peanut butter and an apple and water for the rest of the day. The only downfall with the drinking of water for the rest of the day was the constant use of the bathroom, urinating every five minutes. The good thing about it though was that i got full faster and felt refreshed.

The next day i ate only one meal which was lunch which was at 5pm since i woke up late. And that consisted of only a sandwhich of turkey on whole wheat bread with water again for the rest of the day. I wasn't full and i was hungry for the rest of the day since im not used to eating heatlhy everyday. Since i do eat fast food once in a blue. I felt good eating healthier but hungry in like three hours or so. Fast food fills you up faster but makes you feel like shit in the end but eating healthier makes you feel good and full way faster but leaves you hungry in like three hours or so.

And on the last day i ate only three apples to replace my three meals throughout the day. And i got full faster for like four hours which made me not as hungry throughout the day. So since i ate apples replacing the three meals that would mean i stood full for 12 hours which made me feel better throughout the day and i wasn't hungry at all.

This experimental design helped me realize that even though healthy food is a better choice to go, then to eat mcdonalds which contains a lot of calories and a lot of other nasty crap just to make you full for longer. A regular mcdonald meal comes with a large soda, large fries, and a large burger which is way more than 1,000 calories. And a single apple or whole wheat sandwhich with peanut butter contains less than 1,000 caloires and keeps you full also at the same time.

HW 10 - Food, Inc. Response

PRECIS:
Food Inc. states how the government controlls everything we eat at times. And the meat we eat contains a load of diseases because of the farmers and what they feed the animals on the farm. The way the farmers raise their animals are inhumane. When the truth comes out they get pissed since the truth does hurt and they try to sue people even though they know they can't win the case.

The movie offered a load of different stuff that i didn't see in the book, like how when somebody speaks the truth on what they are doing to the people and kids in america they get pissed and try to sue people. (Ex. Oprah Winfrey). And how the government controlls the things we eat and how they make food addicting to eat so that we can keep buying it.

The book offered some different stuff like the book that i read which was  Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan talked about how everything we eat and drink is made out of corn. Sadly come to think of that its pretty disgusting seeing how we eat corn and drink corn with our meals. Seriously corn + corn = more corn seems nasty if you think about it. But the movie didn't speak about everything being made out of corn from what i recall they never did. Which i think if people heard that they would be pretty disgusted just the way i am. Which is why i hardly drink soda and always drink water.

Only remaining question i have is why do the farmers need to treat animals the way they do? Like i know they need to in order to make more meat or whatever. But what they do to the animals is cruel. HW - 7

The Ominvore's Dielmma by Michael Pollan
Chapter 3

Corn is in every food product that is known to man. It's in everything we eat and it's in every soft drink that people drink; like soda. The corn that's used is really bad for us. Like high fructose corn syrup or in MSG,s. Corn is part of the food chains in animals and then in the end we eating corn since we eat animals and animals were most likely fed corn inside the farms.

One of the best lines i found but the must interesting was the quote "If you wash down your chicken nuggets with almost any soft drink, you are drinking corn with your corn"

1)Does reading this book make you want to stop eating the way you do?
2)How bad is corn after a while? Do you think to much corn is bad?
3)Do you feel distisgusted to know you eat and drink corn for like breakfast,lunch, and dinner?
